Detroit Defaces The Eighties

Right now I'm listening to"Head" by The Monkees and drinking a home style tomato beer. ( spicy V-8, orange juice, worcheshire sauce, hot sauce, celery salt, pepperoncini juice and beer. Tacate tastes real good with this mixture, but tonight I have good ol' PBR) "The Porpoise Song" is one of The Monkees' best, along with "What am I Doing Hanging Around?" and " Auntie Grizelda", (even though they didn't write them). I still like all of that hokey kid shit.
............................................................................ Not that this is hokey shit, but I found this comp called " Detroit Defaces The Eighties" a few years ago. I bought it for the comic book looking cover and the band photos on the back. Judging by the photos, I figured "Service" would be the best of the bunch. The guy on the left looks like he could be in Blue Oyster Cult. That's the kind of picture that you would look at with your friends and say "that's you". It turns out that they were my least favorite, but you can check them out for your self. Here's a song from each of the bands.

The Ivories - She Wants You

The Cubes - Rockin' Right

Rushlow/king Combo - See You Later(perhaps)

Cinecyde - Phosphorous and Napalm

Mark J. Norton - Drunken Poetry

The Twenty Seven - Of The City

Service - Overboard

I borrowed the front cover scan from Nestor in Detroit

Here's a Michigan Punk discography page from Collector Scum.

Cinecyde were a pretty solid band throughout their whole output. Definitely one of Detroit's pre-HC classic "punk/wave" bands...

It took me a while but I finally tracked down some more CINECYDE thanks to this posting of yours. Found a CD outta Italy on Hate Records (put out in 1996) that compiles all their singles & comp tracks including the stuff on this "Deface" LP. Nice. Thanks for turning me onto such a great band.
